Maximiliano Modesti has played a pivotal role in shaping the legacy of Indian embroidery within the global luxury industry. After serving as the studio manager for Azzedine Alaïa in Paris for several years, Modesti made the decision to amalgamate his expertise in Italian luxury and French couture with Indian craft excellence. His Mumbai-based company, Les Ateliers 2M, is renowned for producing some of the world’s finest embroidery for Europe’s leading luxury brands. The skilled Indian karigars (artisans) employed by his company possess a repertoire of over seven hundred different stitches, crafting pieces that are truly breathtaking.

Konarak Salian’s diverse background in design extends beyond architecture to encompass a passion for embroidery and the fascinating intersection between textiles and design. While pursuing his Master’s degree in Architecture at Pratt Institute in New York, Konarak found himself drawn to the intricate artistry of embroidery, recognising its potential to enrich and inform his approach to design.
Inspired by the rich traditions of embroidery from his native India and beyond, Konarak began exploring the parallels between textile craftsmanship and architectural principles.
Through collaborative efforts, Konarak aims to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design, fostering a dialogue that honors the legacy of Indian textile traditions while embracing innovation and sustainability.
